What is it about?
Monitoring the eutrophication of river waters in Côte d'Ivoire represents a significant challenge for leaders because these rivers are vital for populations' livelihoods. The Comoé, Bandama, and Bia Rivers were strongly impacted by human activity along their watersheds, given that the nutrient contents (N&P) of these rivers are among the highest in tropical areas worldwide.

Why is it important?
Ultimately, the mediocre quality of river water (according to WQI and CONAMA 357/2005) combined with the usual use of these river waters by indigenous rural populations, without prior treatment, could constitute a real health risk.
