Why is it important?
It is important the endoscopists to be familiar with the uncommon complications of endoscopic variceal band ligation and to know that temporary complete esophageal obstruction after endoscopic variceal band ligation is possible.
Perspectives
I hope that our case could expand the knowledge of major, although transitory, complications of endoscopic variceal band ligation.
