Why is it important?
Global leadership is a relatively new area in the field of leadership studies. It focuses on leaders who must simultaneously lead multiple followers and stakeholders across multiple boundaries of all types – national, cultural, economic, etc. Globalization has forced leaders to expand their leadership skills to be able to lead in a constant state of global complexity. In this article we trace the history of how global leadership came into being as a field of study and where it is going in the future and how that impacts both scholars and leaders.
Perspectives
If you are beginning to conduct research in global leadership, it is first important to understand how the field evolved – where it came from. That way, it is easier to see where the gaps are in the research that need future study. This article will provide you with that contextual information.
