What is it about?

We report the 6 year incidence rate of dry eye symptoms (at least one of six, frequent or all the time) to be 5% in Singapore Malays in a population based study.

Why is it important?

Other than in the Beaver Dam study, the incident rate of dry eye has not yet been reported. The incidence rate is important for health care planning.

Perspectives

Many elderly people died or become lost to follow up, but this is the reality of a population based study.
