What is it about?

To investigate the effect of water immersion on oxygen uptake (VO2) and central hemodynamic responses during incremental maximal exercise at the same external power output and recovery on an immersible ergocycle vs. a dryland ergocycle

Why is it important?

Immersion favors higher cardiac responses during incremental exercise and its recovery.

Perspectives

Exercise training in immersion could also be interesting during the athlete's rehabilitation program to maintain and/or improve cardiac function more rapidly. Exercise in immersion may represent more important stress to the cardiac system and could be beneficial for cardiac adaptations during an exercise training program.
