What is it about?

A series of novel molecular oligogermanes was synthesized and its properties (NMR, UV/vis, XRD, electrochemistry) were studied in details.

Why is it important?

Elongated catenated germanes (up to 5 Ge atoms) containing electron donating and electron withdrawing groups in terminal and median position s of the chain were studied.

Perspectives

These results are important for further synthesis of Group 14 derivatives.
