What is it about?

The mortality rate was high in the neonate intensive care unit for cases of septicemia even after administrating the proper sensitive antibiotics for the diagnosed bacteria. On further investigation, the neonate's cause of death proved to be respiratory pneumonia, but due to mycotic infections. The cause of such infections came from the oxygen masks.

Why is it important?

Neonates in NICU diagnosed with septicemia should always be investigated for respiratory mycosis especially if they are on a continuous oxygen supply. this research proved that managing mycotic pneumonia in such cases caused a drop in the mortality rate to zero.

Perspectives

For the last 50 years, Medical staff have been at war with Nasocomial infections. Unfortunately, we are losing. We need to change our biosafety plans, our hospital designs from one building to sectarian buildings, and the medical lab should be far away from the hospital as a location, and functional stuff.
