What is it about?
We looked at the current state of e- & mHealth research to improve physical activity and healthy diets. Although this field of research is expanding there are a number of gaps that need to be addressed: 1. Identify successful components of e- & mHealth interventions. 2. Conduct e- & mHealth research to impact physical activity and diet in underserved populations and in people from developing countries. 3. Describe interventions thouroughly to allow replication etc.

Why is it important?
Modern information and communication technology is everywhere and using this technology to impact health behaviors seems useful because we can reach many people. This is important considering the strong increase in obesity, unhealthy diets and inactivity leading to chronic diseases. In our paper we show that technologies that everyone carries around can be used to encourage healthy behaviors.
