What is it about?
We introduced fluorescent dyes of naphthalene-2-pyrazoline derivatives by attaching different electron donating or withdrawing at the nitrogen of the pyrazoline ring. Using spectroscopic techniques and theoretical methods these dyes have been suggested as suitable for OLEDs applications.

Why is it important?
Currently, there is increasing interest to develop organic dyes for optoelectronic applications. The versatility of organic dyes due to the ease of emission tuning together with the low cost of their production make them an attractive alternative to other materials. The pyrazoline ring coupled with naphthalene substituent and tuned with a phenyl ring carrying electron-donating/electron-withdrawing groups has shown strong emissions. From the theoretical calculations these materials were found to be suitable as electron and hole transport materials in OLED applications.
