What is it about?

This work describes an entire production cycle (from synthesis to sintering and material testing) for ceria-based electrolytes for IT-SOFC, giving detailed informations about optimal synthesis and sintering conditions leading to well-sintered pellets characterized by a high ionic conduction.

Why is it important?

Because we demonstrated that is possible to produce variously ceria-based electrolytes by simultaneously reducing time, cost and temperature of the sintering process, and improving their electrochemical performances. Moreover, the synthesis method itself is extremely simple and scalable to industrial level, being applicable to different ceria-based systems

Perspectives

I think that this work can be used as a strong basis for further improvement on our engineered production method applied on different material compositions and/or purposes
