What is it about?
Mycobacterium chimaera is a non-tuberculous mycobacterium belonging to the Mycobacterium avium complex. Mycobacterium chimaera is usually acquired during cardiopulmonary bypass via bioaerosols emitted from contaminated heater-cooler units water systems.
