What is it about?
The COP method for assessing groundwater vulnerability to contamination has been applied to four European carbonate aquifers. Using the statistical and spatial analysis the vulnerability results have been critically evaluated. The statistical correlation between the input factors and the results is coherent with the hydrogeological characteristics of the aquifers.

Why is it important?
The results obtained are coherent with the conceptual model of each pilot aquifer and the available hydrogeological information (hydrographs, isotopic data, tracer tests). The quickness and facility to use spatial and statistical analysis is the methods' advantage with respect to other types of analyses.
