What is it about?
Carbon dioxide can be captured from air and used to make transportation fuels. We integrated the carbon dioxide capture process with the fuel production process to share energy resources and optimize the use of carbon. This makes the fuel less expensive and reduces the greenhouse gas emissions.

Why is it important?
Capturing carbon dioxide from the air is a fairly expensive process. Research is focusing on reducing the costs. What we showed here is an additional way to cut costs: by carefully linking the capture of the carbon dioxide with the use of the captured carbon to make a product.
