What is it about?
What is a Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) role in supporting self-regulation? We share an overview of self-regulation, how it develops through co-regulation, and how stress can impact its employment. A clinical framework is also provided, guiding SLPs to consider how stress may impact therapeutic efforts. The framework also lists strategies SLPs can use to support children’s capacity to self-regulate. A flow chart is provided to guide clinicians through the clinical framework, and case study examples are shared.
