What is it about?
This work deals with the beneficing of açaí cores in a gasifier. Açaí waste beneficing generates energy through gasification process and its by-product, the biochar, can be used as adaorbent of Water pollutants. After activation with NaOH, its specific Surface area increased substantially and, consequently, its adsorptive capacity towards the Adsorption of the cationic dye Methylene Blue.

Why is it important?
This work delivers a special focus on the circular economy relative to the productive chain of açaí pulp. The potencial economic gains to local comunities of Pará State countryside is estimated. Finally, the biochar application as adsorbent is assessed by tests with synthetic (MB) and raw textile wastewater.
