What is it about?
An initial overview has been obtained for the genome of Xanthomonas arboricola pv. pruni 109. This was possible by comparing DNA of this bacterium to other Xanthomonas genomes. Therefore, microarrays with genomic probes of Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris and Xanthomonas euvesicatoria (= campestris pv. vesicatoria) were used in a comparative genomic hybridization approach.

Why is it important?
The analysis revealed first insights into the genome of this bacterial strain, which was related to damage in peach cultivation and important for the biotechnological production of the polysaccharide xanthan in Brazil.
