What is it about?
Ethiopian immigrants have attracted special attention, given that their suicide rates are four times as high as Israel’s general suicide rate. Like other soldiers, Ethiopian soldiers in the IDF comprise an at-risk group for suicide, as a consequence of several major risk factors: as young males, soldiers are at stress within the framework of military service; in addition, soldiers have access to weapons.

Thus, military service can lead to high levels of stress as well as to depression and suicide . This notion is amplified upon considering immigration and acculturation stress experienced by Ethiopians soldiers.
