What is it about?

This article proposes reporting 3 key reference values when using continuous variables to predict risk: the crossover point, the odds ratio at one group's mean, and the odds ratio at the other group's mean. This provides more useful information than just reporting mean and SD.

Why is it important?

Reporting odds ratios at key points gives clinicians actionable info to guide care, instead of just a threshold that miscategorizes many patients. This allows more personalized medicine.

Perspectives

As a clinician, I find odds ratios very helpful. Just giving a threshold leaves me unsure what to do with borderline results. Odds ratios give me a clearer sense of how to apply test results. This method should be more widely adopted.
