What is it about?

This study explores how pharmacists in the Middle East understand and feel about artificial intelligence (AI) in their work. We found that while many pharmacists recognize the potential benefits of AI for improving patient care and pharmacy practices, their overall knowledge about AI is still limited. Most pharmacists express a willingness to learn more and integrate AI into their daily tasks, but many lack practical experience. Our findings suggest that enhancing education and training on AI in pharmacy could help pharmacists adapt to this evolving field.

Why is it important?

This research highlights the crucial role AI could play in modern pharmacy practice in the Middle East, where awareness and integration of technology are still developing. By understanding pharmacists' perspectives on AI, we can inform educational programs and support the transition to a more technologically advanced practice, ultimately improving patient outcomes and healthcare delivery.

Perspectives

Conducting this study was an exciting opportunity to bridge the gap between technology and pharmacy practice. I believe that as pharmacists embrace AI, they can significantly enhance patient care. I hope this work sparks conversations about integrating AI in pharmacy education, leading to a future where pharmacists are well-equipped to leverage these technologies effectively.
