Why is it important?

Bowel screening programs perform thousands of colonoscopies a year with out considering cardiac rhythm disturbances and this article suggests there is a possibility of cardiac rhythm abnormalities in patients with known or high risk of cardiac disease. There might be merit in performing noninvasive bowel imaging for these group of patients.
