Why is it important?
Climate change is predicted to lead to huge changes in the distribution of tropical rainforest vegetation. More prolonged dry seasons is one of the ways the impacts of climate change can manifest. It is therefore important to understand the effects such droughts on rainforest plants, and to gain perspectives from experimental field studies, rather than just glasshouse experiments.
