What is it about?
While existing literature has identified a sizable incumbency advantage in developed democracies, we argue that the political contexts of Japan’s Lower House elections undermine the incumbency advantage. The research finds that this is the case due to Japan's unique system that allows losers to be a "resurrected" incumbent.
