Featured Image

Why is it important?

Delirium is common in SNH were many patients have basal cognitive impairment (MCI and dementia). The syndrome worseness prognosis and increases the length of stay

Perspectives

Although delirium in SNH is related to known clinical variables, its relationship with social aspects, like widowhood, needs in deep study. Non detected delirium cases tend to have baseline dementia and to be overmedicated. SNH staff needs delirium diagnosis tools capable to differentiate it from dementia.
