What is it about?
There is a paucity of information regarding identification and quantitative evaluations of sources as well as the ecological risks posed by PAHs in the Brisbane River sediment. Such information is essential for the formulation of effective pollution mitigation strategies. Further-more, there is no recent comprehensive study on the distribution of PAHs in the sediments of the river, especially after the major floods in January 2011 and 2013.

Why is it important?
This study seeks to provide a detailed overview of the distribution and sources of PAHs in sediment in the Brisbane River and employed receptor modelling to quantitatively assess the contribution of each source to the total load.
