What is it about?
A short perspective for a special journal issue on TB. This one deals with the complete lack of funding in Europe in Horizon 2020 for small molecule drug discovery. This work came out of the NM4TB project.

Why is it important?
It suggests alternatives to raise funds, the need to lobby politicians, crowdfunding etc. It also discusses implications of lack of small molecule research funding for TB in europe - including loss of young scientists to other projects.
Perspectives
This came at the end of about 1 year of raising awareness of the lack of funds for TB small molecule drug discovery research in Europe. I think we have to rethink how we approach funding such research and what we need in the large scale collaborations.
