What is it about?
A methodological framework for assessing the support of thesaurus constructs provided by thesaurus tools is proposed. It can be used by thesauri editors to know if a thesaurus tool offers the support they need for this task. In fact, assessing the support of thesaurus constructs is assessing thesaurus tool's conformance with thesaurus standards. ISO 25964 is the current standard for thesauri. This framework includes a set of tests, designed according to the ISO standard. Thesauri are knowledge organization systems (KOS), thus one of its values is sharing knowledge. The possibilities of Semantic Web technologies and Linked Data make RDF the ideal choice for representing and sharing thesauri on the web. Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS) is the W3C standard for representing KOS. Aligning ISO 25964 and SKOS is not direct, thus the article includes some considerations about how this issue should be taken into account when applying the framework. The article also includes a proof of concept, in which it was applied to two thesaurus tools.

Why is it important?
It helps to verify if thesaurus tools provide support for all thesaurus constructs desired, and the quality (level of conformance with ISO standards) of this support.
