What is it about?
A progress of self-assembled drug delivery systems. sPLA2 is highly expressed in tumor tissues. A sPLA2-sensitive gemcitabine prodrug was designed and prepared. The prodrug has a phospholipid structure so that some cancer cytotoxic agents are degradeded by sPLA2, PLC, PLD, in turn. Multiple anticancer agents would accumulate in the cancer cell. High anticancer effect is achieved. More importantly, the prodrug can self-assemble into nanoscale "liposomes" that have tumor targeting function.
