Why is it important?

It investigates heart activity abnormalities manifested in the HRV parameters and provides a comprehensive analysis of their patterns during pre-ictal and ictal phases as well as the corresponding transition from one phase to the other. It evaluates and ranks HRV parameters in terms of their relevance, significance and involvement in seizure anticipation and potentially prediction efficacy. The proposed methodology provides a framework for selecting the most important HRV features, incorporating personalized reference information and developing a focal seizure anticipation model using only ECG signals.
