What is it about?
According to literature, the majority of BRCA-1 associated breast cancers are triple-negative and display a basal-like (BL) phenotype. Metaplastic breast cancers (MBCs) are part of the spectrum of BL, and among them, breast carcinosarcoma (BCS) is a rare, aggressive peculiar subtype. We report a case of BCS in a 35-year-old female who was subsequently found to be BRCA1-mutated. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the few carcinosarcomas reported in a woman with the BRCA mutation. We also present a short review of the literature
