What is it about?

Techer burnout is a pancultural syndrome that impact quality of education greatly. In order to use measures (MBI) developed in the West in emerging countries, we explored whether or not the nature of burnout syndrome among teachers in Western countries is the same among teachers in emerging economies taking Ghana, China and Pakistan as study contexts.

Why is it important?

The study outcome indicates that with some modifications, the MBI can be used in emerging economies. This outcome emboldens researchers to adopt and adapt MBI to explore the syndrome in low and middle income countries to improve the quality of education.

Perspectives

I look forward to more researchers testing measures developed in the West in low and middle income economies, especially, those in sub-Saharan Africa to enable their applicability in these contexts and hope that this research inspires just that. More work is required in education across these economies. With limited resources, the potential of adaptable measures are a great relief to researchers in these parts of the world.
