What is it about?

In our publication, we investigated the use of groundnut shells as a renewable energy source through a process called pyrolysis. Pyrolysis is a technique that converts biomass into bio-oil, which can be used as a fuel. We conducted experiments to determine the optimal conditions for pyrolyzing groundnut shells, and we analyzed the composition of the resulting bio-oil. We found that groundnut shells can be converted into bio-oil with a high yield, and the bio-oil contains valuable components that can be used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, and chemicals. We also developed a model using artificial neural networks to predict the thermal decomposition behavior of groundnut shells. Our research highlights the potential of using groundnut shells as a sustainable energy source and the importance of optimizing the pyrolysis process to maximize the production of valuable bio-oil. This study contributes to the development of renewable energy technologies and the utilization of agricultural waste for valuable applications.

Why is it important?

The unique aspect of this work is the comprehensive investigation of the pyrolysis of groundnut shell (GNS) biomass, including product distribution, thermodynamic analysis, kinetic estimation, and artificial neural network modeling. The study provides valuable insights into the valorization of a common agricultural waste, GNS, through pyrolysis, which has the potential to contribute to renewable energy production and solid waste management. The timely aspect of this work lies in its relevance to the current global focus on sustainable energy sources and waste management. With the increasing demand for renewable energy and the need for efficient waste utilization, the pyrolysis of biomass, such as GNS, can offer a promising solution. The study addresses key research questions related to the pyrolysis process and provides valuable data on product yields, composition, and potential applications. The findings of this study can be significant in several ways. Firstly, it contributes to the scientific understanding of the pyrolysis process and the thermochemical decomposition of GNS biomass. Secondly, it provides valuable information on the composition of the GNS-derived bio-oil, which can be used to explore its potential as a feedstock for biofuel, pharmaceutical, and food industries. Lastly, the development of an artificial neural network model for predicting the thermal degradation behavior of GNS biomass can aid in process optimization and scale-up. Given the relevance of this research to the fields of renewable energy, waste management, and biomass utilization, it is expected to attract the interest of researchers, scientists, and professionals in these fields. The comprehensive nature of the study, along with the potential applications of the findings, can contribute to increasing readership and engagement with the research.
