What is it about?
Functional luminal imaging is a relatively new technology for obtaining geometric profiling data and distensibility of gastrointestinal sphincters. Such data are important for evaluation of the competence of the sphincter. For example reflux of acid from the stomach to the esophagus may be due to a weak lower esophageal sphincter.
