What is it about?
We show that Saharan airborne dust is one of the source of the dust deposits found on the Canary Islands. We show that the Saharan plume dust can transport particles coarser than 150 μm, including giant aeolian quartz.

Why is it important?
We used a high resolution meteorological model (WRF) to demonstrate that the wind is capable of transporting dust from the centre of the Sahara to the Canary Islands.
