What is it about?
We show that culturing MDCK II cells on soft (approx. 1kPa Young's modulus) hydrogels that are mimicking the in vivo stiffness of their native environment leads o a novel growth regime, where cells are packed much denser than on hard surfaces.

Why is it important?
The letter shows that culturing MDCK II cells on soft hydrogels with in vivo like stiffness allows for a more physiological situation studying these cells.
