What is it about?
Visible light triggered graphene quantum dots produce toxic singlet oxygen from abundant neutral oxygen molecules. Singlet oxygen drill bacteria membrane and kill them.

Why is it important?
Graphene quantum dots(GQD) easily penetrate bacteria. GQD can be easily produced on large scale at low cost. All superficial infections resistant to current antibiotics can be treated by photodynamic therapy using GQD as agent.
