What is it about?

We measured the activation of Protein Kinase D1 and 3 in response to treatment with Orexin A We flooded the cells with inactive forms of Protein kinase D1 or 3 and measured calcium movement into the cells in response to Orexin A treatment. Calcium reponses were completely altered showing that in the brain these 2 kinases participate in the response stimulation of receptor by OrexinA

Why is it important?

We know we need food when the glucose sensing neuron in the brain are inactive because glucose level is low. This gives new insight on how we know that we need food for instance or any other behaviors which are controlled by orexin A
