What is it about?

We have explored the surface chemistry of different types of doped iron oxide based magnetic nanomaterials and studied its interaction with a bifuntional linker named dopamine which is commonly used for biofunctionalization applications. Additionally, computational methods in combination with certain characterization tools were used to comprehend correlation between its electromagnetic properties and interfacial reactivity with biomolecules.

Why is it important?

It will help researchers select suitable magnetic nano-material for biomedical applications based on their reactivity profile.

Perspectives

This piece of work was conceived by me while finding the suitable magnetic nanomaterials which I can use for theranostic applications. Initially, some theoretical work was performed to get an insight how introduction of divalents in Iron Oxide affects its adsorption characteristics. I found the results interesting and later on while considering the suggestions of some co-authors, I performed experimental work to validate the computational results. It is highly recommended for the researchers working on finding right computational tools to model surface chemistry or magnetic materials.
