Why is it important?

Usual alternatives to fishmeal in aquafeeds are protein-rich plant meals. In contrast with these plants, insects are part of the natural diet of fish and they seem more sustainable: their production requires less energy, water and arable land than plants. Thus, they may represent a better alternative to FM. With the continuing rise in the price of FM, recent interest is rising and new research is rapidly emerging on the subject.
