Why is it important?

MR1 is essential for the activation of MAIT cells. These are very abundant white blood cells and must play a very imporant role in teh human immune system because MR1 and MAIT cells have been conserved in evoluation for over 150 million years in animals as diverse as humans, mice and possums.

Perspectives

This is a comprehensive introduction to teh MR1-MAIT TCR interaction based on the work of Prof Jim McCluskey and his research group at the University of Melbourne
