What is it about?

The X-ray diffractometerpatternsof a reciprocal spacehave been analyzedin the modulatedphasesof Cs2ZnI4crystals.The character of the atomic displacementsin the modulation wave has been established. The temperaturebehaviourof both a modulationwave vector and amplitude has been determinedfrom the position and intensityof satellitereflections.

Why is it important?

In the present study the temperature dependence of wave vector q is obtainedand the structural character of atomic modulation is investigated in detail. The X-ray scattering above the normal- incommensurate transition where the coexistence of the incommensurateand normal phases is analyzed

Perspectives

Cs2ZnI4 CRYSTALS belong to the 3-K2SO4-type structure (A2BX4 family) which is typical for the majority of crystals with an incommensurate phases.
