What is it about?

Businesses are under growing pressure to become more sustainable, reduce waste, and respond to environmental challenges. Our study explores a new way companies can do this by working together with their competitors. We introduce the idea of the Coopetitive Circular Business Model (CCBM). This approach combines two important ideas: coopetition (when competing companies collaborate in certain areas) and the circular economy (an economic system focused on reducing waste, reusing materials, and keeping resources in use for longer). Traditionally, businesses compete against one another. However, our research shows that in some situations, collaboration between competitors can help companies achieve sustainability goals more effectively. For example, businesses may share knowledge, infrastructure, recycling systems, or innovation costs in order to reduce waste and improve resource efficiency. The study explains the theories behind this model and highlights how it could help organisations become more innovative, resilient, and environmentally responsible. It also discusses how businesses can respond more effectively to increasing sustainability regulations and changing consumer expectations. Overall, the research argues that sustainability challenges are often too large for organisations to solve alone. By combining competition with collaboration, businesses may be better positioned to support long-term environmental and economic sustainability.
