What is it about?
A novel application of 3D printing technology in the preparation of drug-device. Selections of materials, drugs, and preparation processes, and major properties of the 3D printed vaginal rings are shown in this study. Finally, the optimal progesterone-loaded vaginal rings are obtained.

Why is it important?
The marketed vaginal rings have limited shapes, sizes, color, and doses if drugs are loaded. 3D printing provides a novel insight for the preparation of vaginal rings. More importantly, this study may be the first research to give a new thought of using 3D printing technology to prepare drug-devices.
