What is it about?
A systematic review was conducted to identify available guidelines relevant to prevention and early detection; presentation, initial investigations and referral; and diagnosis for vaginal and vulvar cancers. A total of 45 guidelines were included in this review.

Why is it important?
Variation in care is known to exist for those diagnosed with vaginal and vulvar cancers. Guidelines are essential to providing a consistent, quality standard of care. A systematic review was conducted to provide an evidence-based background for vaginal and vulvar cancers.
Perspectives
By writing this article, I want to provide more information about the availability and quality of guidelines for vaginal and vulvar cancers. I would like to see the development of an Optimal Care Pathway for vaginal and vulvar cancers. I hope that this article can be used to help inform the creation of this pathway for these rare gynaecological cancers.
