What is it about?

Space exploration is the name you may hear a lot these days! Missions to outer space and traveling to farther destinations could change the definition of life, answer many of our questions, and finally help us have a better life on Earth! But there are many techniques required to enable such missions! The ability to perform accurate and robust On-orbit inspection of space structures is one of the critical capabilities that will allow sustainable space activities. Read our article to find out how we have addressed this challenging problem!

Why is it important?

On-orbit inspection is a critical capability required to initialize on-orbit servicing and other proximity operations in space but has received very little attention thus far! We have addressed this problem to contribute to the required technology for space exploration missions!

Perspectives

This publication has designed a practical multi-section on-orbit inspection mission for large complex space structures and presented a novel approach on how to use multiple spacecraft to accomplish complex missions, which are very difficult or impossible for a single spacecraft!
