What is it about?

The book review looks at the innovative aspects of Eleftheriadis' work, but also adopts a critical view. It compares with similar recent works, including the monograph published by the review's author. As opposed to monism and pluralism, the book believes that dualism is the best theory that explains the EU legal system. Interestingly, positivist theories are blamed for being inadequate accounts of the interaction between legal orders. The book's innovative approach looks at the EU as a form of international law supported by a sense of solidarity. However, while the objections to federalist theories are sound, the book's criticism of constitutional pluralism is less convincing.
