What is it about?

In this work, we focused on Precision Agriculture. We discovered that current systems (at the time) used wired sensors that were very limited in scope yet very expensive and proprietary. So, we developed our own Portable, Wireless, Plug-n-play, and Interactive IoT devices for agriculture. Our units required minimum infrastructure, just plant the device into the soil and go. They are self-powered (solar) and protected from the weather through our 3D printed water-proof casings.

Why is it important?

Aside from broadcasting data to the cloud, and from being Portable, Wireless, and Plug-n-play units. Our devices create another layer of Precision Agriculture, the In-field Precision Agriculture. Our devices can interact with farmers & agriculture workers in the field directly by giving feedback and notifications to the farmers in the field directly, alerting them to the needs of the plants, such as water, fertilizers, and others. So farmers can act without having to wait for instructions from the field managers, thus Realizing the full potential of Precision Agriculture

Perspectives

Research Series: The Internet of Everything (IoE) [2017 - current] This work is part of the IoE research initiative I am currently embarking on, which aims to Implement the Internet of Things (IoT) in Every aspect of our lives. Since I ventured into IoT in 2016, I covered; Precision Agriculture, Water Management, Vehicle Fleet management, IoT-Robotics, Energy, and recently, Covid-19 related technologies.
