What is it about?

The importance of the detection of As (III) heavy metal has been increased due to its toxicity in the environment, which is ultimately affecting all types of organisms depending upon the water which is the prime source of life. Application of the colorimetric probe applied to tissue samples because As (III) is the kind of heavy metal that can remain in the body for a prolonged time and can be retrieved even from the cadaver as it acts as a slow poison. Therefore, it is essential to detect its presence from a biological sample like viscera (i.e. tissues) in a user-friendly and cost-effective way without compromising the detection sensitivity and selectivity. Hence, in this work, we present a novel approach towards the detection of As (III) in tissue samples using an integrated hand-held device enabling high sensitivity, selectivity, and reproducibility of the detection system.
