Why is it important?

Pharmacists’ interventions in DM management performed in Arab countries tend to result in enhanced patient knowledge; greater adherence to both pharmacological and nonpharmacological treatments; and eventually better glycemic, lipid, and blood pressure control. Further, precisely designed long-term studies are highly recommended to confirm the benefits of the interventions by pharmacists in the management of DM.

Perspectives

Publishing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long-standing collaborations. This article also leads to improving the knowledge of the healthcare providers about the importance of self-care for the DM patients and consequently improving compliance with the treatment protocols.
