What is it about?
Acid-base and photocatalytic properties for the degradation of Congo Red and Metylene Blue of TiO2-based nanomaterials: commercial TiO2, sulsonated TiO2 (TiO2-S) and nanocomposites TiO2 and TiO2-S with carbon nanotubes have been studied. The results indicate the important role of the acid-base properties of catalysts for determining the activity in photocatalytic processes. For the MB photodegradation, a correlation between the photocatalytic activity and the strength of acid sites of catalysts has been observed. An effective catalyst for CR photodegradation in addition to acid sites, must have the basic ones.
