What is it about?

The manuscript discloses a simple approach for the a promising low-cost and reusable material with adequate catalytic properties to promote esterification reactions involving residual FFAs for sustainable biofuels production.

Why is it important?

This material showed to be a highly active and stable catalytic system for DDPO esterification with high conversion (94%), with five cycles of use with DDPO conversion above 60%.

Perspectives

FK-based MF4W15 showed that it has great potential for application as a profitable catalyst to stimulate acid-catalyzed organic transformations under environmentally correct conditions and processes, providing a sustainable alternative for the production of FAEEs with DDPO as a green raw material, potentially solving two potential industrial and environmental problems in the Amazon region caused by their disposal and adds economic value to the waste.
